Bienvenue !
Welcome family, friends, and strangers alike. This is the beginning of a blog that I hope to keep updated throughout my exchange in France. I know that there are many people who would like to know what I am up to while I am away from Canada, so I hope that this will not only be an easy way to keep everyone in the loop, but also a way for people to experience my travels with me. Although I will mostly be in Montpellier over the next year, there is going to be lots of opportunities for me to go elsewhere in both France and Europe, so I hope you'll join me where ever I am!
The city of Montpellier is located in the south of France in the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. It is a city that lies along the Mediterranean sea with a population of about 500,000 people, the eighth largest in the country. I will be living in this city from September 2015 until sometime in June 2016 while I study at the University of Montpellier, with the hopes of doing lots of travelling in between.
This blog will not only consist of my travels and exchange experiences, but I will also be doing a pre-departure blog which will follow everything that leads up to me leaving for France. This pre-departure blog will include things related to my exchange, such as housing applications, visa applications, packing, and other important things going on in my life here in Canada. My hope is that this portion of the blog will be helpful for future exchange students through seeing my own experiences.
I will begin the travel blog on September 4, 2015 when I arrive in France. This blog will include everything that happens in my life during my exchange, whether it be things I do, things I see, cultural differences I encounter, or places I travel to. I have also created a page called itineraries where I will be posting all of my travel plans for you to follow.
I hope you enjoy what I put together and I look forward to experiencing France with you!
